Alright guys….

Daphne and Tamara have a really good podcast out this week on clothes for the other half out there in Second Life - yeah, the guys - or what the guys need to buy for clothing. As usual, it’s a pretty entertaining podcast. The Traveling Avatar is even on the show. The blog post has a pretty good selection of SLURLs of places for men to shop.

So, let’s see you guys starting to look a bit sharper. And like the girls say at the end of the podcast - you guys can change your clothes more often than once a week….

Viewer Issue

I’m having an annoying issue with screen captures - it might not necessarily be the Second Life client, but I’m not sure. I’ve opened a bug report with Linden Labs. Torley has been real helpful in trying to track it down. It seems to have started with the last 1.15 release maybe. I’m getting an ugly black band across the center of a high res screen capture. It makes a screen capture pretty much useless. I’m going to tinker around more with it to see if it might be anything with my system or the client.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing before or currently? There are some JPEG2000 capture shots in the bug report. If you need a viewer for JPEG2000, try IrFanView - it’s free.

Trying to get caught up….

Work and Real Life are taking up a lot of time right now and this weekend is not going to be a vast improvement…. But, we’ll see. I gave the new First Look Client a whirl last night and it is spectacular with the new sky and weather. Give it a try. I would have some pictures posted, but there seems to be an issue with screen shots on my system right now… I’m trying to get that worked out.

I’m also trying to do another video - with sound…. Lots of things to do, not enough time.

New Keyboard - Logitech G15

Okay, so I broke down and bought a new keyboard. The Logitech G15. My old one, a Microsoft one, does not seem to be supported by the empire any more. This is very annoying. I can’t get a driver for it and the scroll wheel on the keyboard doesn’t work anymore - which is friggin’ annoying.

It’s actually a pretty nice keyboard. What really drove me to it was the function keys on the left side of the keyboard. You can program them to your hearts content. I programmed the middle set to act as the arrow keys and the page up/page down keys. So, now I can move without switching back and forth between chat mode and movement mode. I also programmed the lower function keys to act as the alt and make day keys. I has been pretty convenient.

It also has a LCD display which can give you information on what’s going on. At one point, a Second Life beta displayed information on G15, but then subsequent beta’s did not and the release that followed, does not either. Which is a disappointment. It would show chats, IM’s, where your location is, etc.

Oh well, at least I know it can do it.

Next Blogger Party - June 16th - Repoll

Okay, since we had problems with the poll last time…. Here’s another poll with a Gor and watermelon theme added. Although, I’m not sure what or where to get watermelon clothing…. I’ll keep this poll open until June 2nd. Then we’ll have a theme for the party.

Whoohoo!

Ms. Bugatti?

Yes, it’s true, my first name is taken from a supercar. It was sort of an amusing name I decided on when I was stuck trying to come up with a name for Second Life. The kicker was when the surname Supercharge was available when I signed up.

No, I’m not a motorhead, but it is the name of my computer workstation at work (which is another story in itself). So the name fit, so to speak. Even if you’re not into cars, it is just entertaining to watch such an incredible piece of engineering strutting its stuff.

The Veyron itself is named after Pierre Veyron, a Grand Prix winner from the 1930’s to 1950’s.

The Veyron is a car of superlatives. It pretty much exceeds all other cars in almost every category. Top speed is 250 mph (405 kph). Don’t believe me? Watch this video.

It holds the record for a production car of the 0-1oo-0 acceleration test. That is go from zero to 100 mph to zero again. It did it in 9.9 seconds. Not bad for a 4000 pound car. It beat out a Suzuki superbike. Powering this speed demon is a W16 engine with four turbo chargers developing at least 1001 horsepower. It has full time four wheel drive and more torque than most semi-tractors rigs. It has a seven speed transmission….

You get all that, air condition, a car stereo, leather seats, cell phone for an easy $1.2M US.

Here you can watch it race an airplane across Europe….

Next Blogger Party - June 16th

Mark your calendars for a blogger party on June 16th. I’m going to try to start the party early and go late, so people in Europe don’t have to stay up into the wee hours of the night - although, they seem to enjoy that.

Next, for the theme…. Here are some of the suggestions I have heard and a poll. Neko was the last theme, so we’ll rotate it this time. I will leave the poll open for about two weeks.

I’m off to sprout wings in Real Life now….

Better Butt Wiggling

Persistence does pay off. An improved version of my previous YouTube video. I found service that will host 5GB of “stuff” for free - eSnips. So, I’ve created an account and I put the video up there.

The file is pretty large, 17MB, but it’s nice and smooth. Yes, I’m working on audio next….

Blogger Party

Posting is a bit late - I’m on the road (at least that’s my excuse). I think Myg has it covered pretty good here….

It was a good time. I’ll have a poll up shortly on the next theme ideas….

Second Life Graphics to Get a Boost?

Linden Labs buys a company…. They buy Windward Mark and promise to improve visual quality within weeks. Hmmm…. Well, visual quality would be a nice thing. I’m less annoyed about this sort of activity rather than focusing in on stability. The photographers in Second Life should be happy.

But they do need to focus on stability, some of these bugs are pretty stupid….

Gotta catch a plane…

Traveling Avatar

Well, not this Traveling Avatar, but this avatar will be traveling this week for business… so I might be a bit slower on the posts and in Second Life activities. Hard to say. Now, if I can score that first class upgrade….

YouTube Videos in Second Life

Torley has some tips on how to get a YouTube video to play in Second Life. It uses as free online service called Vixy that converts YouTube videos into more usable formats.

Skin Me on the Cheap!

I confess to liking my X2 Exotica skins, but I like to have an inventory of “different” skins because the X2’s are REALLY expensive - but worth it. That being said, Opium is clearing out their skins until June 3, 2007 at 90% off. They are L$25 each - a bargain, as a set of X2 skins are L$4000.

You can find the skins until then at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Scoopwing/244/125/48. Oh, and try to control yourself girls!
