However, the group limit is actually a deeper problem than might be imagined, as far as I am aware. It is not just a question of changing a flag. Group membership has all sorts of further effects. Thus I would not expect any simple response here - asking for increased group membership has been going back years now. A more practical endeavour would be to eliminate the need to join groups that are simply there for chat or update messages. It is indeed annoying and this is recognised by Lindens left, right and centre.
