Whoohoo!!

I’m about to hit the road to go get a new laptop…. mmmm…. Horsepower. Need more power. I broke down and I got a Gateway P-6831FX. So, it’s a 17″ laptop, which is bigger than I really wanted, but I’ll deal with it. The CPU is not as fast as I wanted, but that I can upgrade. It’s a Core 2 Duo. But the icing on the cake is that the video card in this bad boy is Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS. It’s almost - almost - the fastest video card you can currently put in a laptop. Only the GTX is faster. And not to mention, the price is right. It’s under $2000, but a good margin, so that makes the cheap operator at the keyboard happy.
The downside is the bugger runs Vista. I’ve managed to avoid that bastard of an operating system all the way up until now. It also looks like it might be more of a pain to try to upgrade it to Windows XP than it’s worth.
I’ve been jonesing to get on the grid with something that doesn’t make me a fruitcake with lag. I need my fix! I’m so excited, I can hardly contain myself.
It’s such a studly machine, I needs a name worthy of it’s capabilities. Hmmmm…. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the new lappy! With that video card you’ll have some fun, I’m sure … damn, I’m envious
Name suggestion: Thundercat - cause I just love that name

Sounds cheap to say this as well, but congrats!
And for a name? How about… The “Shadow Hound”? It’s fast, powerful, and stealthy!
Or… “Lapbook”, (like Facebook or Macbook) “Mobile Buddy”, (Ooo, that sounds Torley-like
.) or “Little Penti”? Although it uses Core 2 Duo, not Pentium, yet, it still sounds nice

It’s big and black and full of power and goes in your lap. The possibilities abound

Upgrade to Vista Service Pack 1 (rc1) will improve the operation of your system, and Second Life as well. Its currently a closed test, and final release should be march/late march, but its worth it
