Various Sillyiness
I’m beginning to see a pattern here….
- Today: Various Issues
- April 1: Various Inworld Issues
- March 31: Second Life In-World Service Issues
- March 30: In World Services Down/Website and Support
- March 30: Transactions Timing Out
- March 29: Inworld Money Transactions Problematic at the Moment
- March 28: Asset Server Issues
- March 27: Inworld Issue Affecting Transactions
- March 26: Obviously took the day off….
- March 25: In World Service Disruptions Under Investigation
- March 24: Disruption in inworld services
I’d keep going, but I was getting tired of cutting and pasting - there seemed to be an endless supply of entries like these. Oh, what we really need now to help Linden Labs out is a trouble blog entry generator. It might save them a lot of time in creating the blog entry about the problem. It could slap some random words together for the title, like “Transactions Inworld Timing Out Affecting Servers”. Then they could use the tech support excuse generator to follow up with it.
Maybe we need to turn this into a game. Sort of a meta-game. This doesn’t quite work as a drinking game, as they manage to spread out the disasters by at least a day. At most you’d get a headache, and we already have that. I know! We could do something like SLBrokenDownInTheGrid Bingo. (Now does that meet new trademark policy?) You get a bingo card and every time they have an outage, you get the first letters of all capitalized words they use in the title. What would make a good prize? Hmmm… I need to think about that. I do have this stockade I could put the winner in.
Obviously, any members of Linden Labs’ couldn’t play because they could fix the game. Like they COULD STOP THE GRID FROM CRATERING EVERY FRIGGIN DAY!
I’m sure they’re getting right on with solving these problems as soon as they pick the next letters to use….

LOL! Great post. Quite frankly, given that I pay Linden Labs almost 2k US Dollars a month in land usage fees, I’m getting thoroughly peeved at all these inworld issues.

Well, they have humour though even though LL’s april fool joke “More Stable Second Life Simulator On The Way (Tastes Great, Less Crashing” went pretty unnoticed (maybe because it got posted the 31st?)

I did notice that there was no April 1st posting from Linden Labs. Mostly because I’m sure none of us would find anything they posted to be that funny….

on this long-term issue! Organized by Mannix Mensing based on Celina’s idea, the march intends on raising the priority of this issue with the authorities. The reliability issues, while inconvenient to most avatars, are really hurting business owners. And I’m not the only one noticing this. While everyone complains about these problems, a quick look at JIRA’s “Popular SVC Issues” shows that none of the top ten have anything much to do with this: Stopping texture theft and stop spreading of stolen items
