Beowulf Freebies

free_tshirt_appscout_article Beowulf Freebies

Haven’t been there yet, but apparently, you can get some freebies from the Electric Sheep Company on the latest movie tie in, Beowulf.   I’ve heard the primary draw on this movie is a neekied Angelina Jolie avatar.  Anyway, the goods can be be found on Beowulf Island in world.  I’m sure the movie is nothing like the original Beowulf, but you never know.

I wonder if they are giving away an Angelina Jolie avie….

The best way to see Beowulf is like the original was performed. If you haven’t seen Bagby’s Beowulf, you’ll never understand why the story is so incredibly riveting.

I saw him perform Beowulf live, the way it was done when it was young and new. Before I saw it performed this way, I could never understand how people sat around a fire in a lodge and listened to someone recite a story. I’ve been to storytellers before and none interested me in more than a passing fashion until I saw Bagby perform Beowulf. Wow! Is all I can really say. He does it in the original language, with subtitles :) and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

If this movie butchers the story like “300″ did to its subject matter… grrrrrrr

Everytime I think of Leonidas and the Spartans at Thermopylae I tear up (yes I’m sappy :P) - “300″ may have been a good graphic novel or whatever, but the original story is incredible, who needs a monstrous Xerxes - the achievement is awe inspiring enough without such gimmickry.

I’ll stop now before I sound too much like a classical literature Luddite.

I may be a bimbo, but I’m a bimbo with good taste :)
